Colonel Bob Piper served as a platoon leader in "G" Company, 505th PIR. He was Rgtl. Adjutant (S-1) and then Rgtl. Intelligence Officer (S-2) and made all four of the combat jumps effected by the 82nd Airborne Division during WWII. He was wounded only once, in Sicily.
