The Frog-Skin camouflage pattern was introduced in 1942. It was one of the first large-scale attempts at camouflage uniforms by the U.S. military. The pattern consists of irregular spots and blotches, which earned it the nickname “frog skin” due to its resemblance to the skin of a frog. While the pattern is most associated with the Marine Corps, it was also issued to certain U.S. Army units, particularly those involved in amphibious operations in the Pacific.

The pattern was used to produce reversible Herringbone Twill HBT jackets and trousers, ponchos, helmet covers, and various field gear items.
