Another terrific "monster" book from RZM Publishing. As a historian of the eastern front myself, I can appreciate the effort that went into producing a volume that belongs on the top shelf of any history "buffs" World War II library! The coffee-table size book includes hundreds of magnificent photos shot by the battlegroup's professional photographer, Ernst Baumann. Using cutting-edge technology, RZM Publishing has taken these WW2 pics and made them look as if they were taken only minutes ago by your I-Phone! One really has to SEE the pictures to truly understand how amazing it is to see WW2 photos enhanced to unprecedented level of clarity. I almost got an eerie feeling looking at them; it was as if I could reach out and touch the men, vehicles, and tanks in the photographs. But the book is much, much more than just a collection of (never before published!) pictures. The short, but detailed "orientation" text at the start of each section is prepared by excellent eastern front historian Douglas E. Nash. Several easy to follow maps also help to orient the reader. Appendices include short, but insightful, biographies of key participants, orders of battle, and a glossary of terms. While it is a cliche to insist that this book belongs in every WW2 history buff's or scholar's library, I'm going ahead and insisting on it anyway! This and other books by Remy at RZM Publishing and historian Douglas Nash offer the reader an experience truly like no other.
All of the RZM books are great additions to your library.
