The Plane Tree No. 6 camouflage pattern was one of six numbered variations of the distinctive Platanenmuster family developed exclusively for the Waffen-SS during World War II. First introduced before the war, Plane Tree was among the earliest camouflage patterns designed for field use. No. 6 belonged to the later 5/6 series and featured an intricate combination of irregular organic shapes and contrasting spots intended to break up the wearer’s outline in wooded terrain. 

Produced in green-dominant spring/summer and brown-dominant autumn color schemes, Plane Tree camouflage appeared on reversible camouflage smocks, helmet covers, field caps and shelter quarters, and also panzer crewmen coveralls.
