A history of the 16. SS-Panzergrenadier-Division "Reichsführer-SS" in documentation. Hard cover, 9"x12", 794 pages, 224 black & white photographs, 72 maps and sketches, 90 copies of original documents, and a separate booklet with 31 additional maps and other documents!
The book begins with the formation of the Sturmbrigade "Reichsführer-SS" on Corsica in 1943, and follows the brigade through its first combat operations there. The documentation follows the various elements of the division as it fought on different fronts - in Italy at Anzio-Nettuno, in Hungary for Operation Margarethe, and the continued operations in Italy to the end of the war. The many small elements and battlegroups of this division, scattered as they were, are covered in detail in all of their areas of operation - even the combat actions of the SS-Panzergrenadier-Ausbildungs- und Ersatz-Bataillon 16 in early 1945 are covered. Compiled by the former veterans of the "Reichsführer-SS" this book is a very large resource and provides excellent coverage of the division and its wartime operations.
