This book focuses on the Germany's second highest scoring fighter ace Gerhard Barkhorn, who scored a total of 301 air victories. Compared to the highest scoring ace Eric Hartmann, Barkhorn is almost forgotten today. This book describes Barkhorn’s wartime experiences with JG 2 on the English Channel, JG 52, JG 6 and finally JV 44.

Excerpts from original combat reports enable the reader to feel the drama of the events that happened back then. Barkhorn’s career in the post-war Bundeswehr is also examined.. The book tells, completely in English and German language, about his life and shows a lot of large B+W photos also 35 color photos of which some were taken by Barkhorn himself while he was flying over the Caucasus. The book also contains 15 full page color profiles of all the machines that Barkhorn flew as well as claim lists and more information about Barkhorn.
