Unarmored halftrack vehicles were typical for the Wehrmacht, as they expressed power, speed and cross-country ability, all necessary requirements for motorised units. As a consequence these halftrack
vehicles became almost ubiquitous, and the Heereswaffenamt issued orders to develop vehicles in six different classifications, as early as the Reichswehr period.

Dr. Hettler has long researched these types of vehicles, and has already wrote about some in the Nuts & Bolts series: 18 ton ZgKw FAMO, Sd.Kfz.9 (N&B No. 12), 12 ton Zgkw Daimer-Benz Sd.Kfz. 8 (N&B No. 16), 3 ton ZgKw Hanomag Sd.Kfz.10 (N&B No. 20), 8 ton ZgKw Krauss-Maffai Sd.Kfz. 7 (N&B No. 34). Now the series continues with Nuts & Bolts No. 39.
