D-Day to VE Day tells the story of the final year of the Second World War in Europe, beginning with the Allied landings in Normandy on 06 June 1944 and following the campaign through to victory in Europe on 08 May 1945.

Anton Rippon and Nicola Rippon combine contemporary interviews, newspaper reports and official documents to examine both the military events that brought Nazi Germany's defeat and everyday life in Britain during those decisive months. The narrative follows the hard fighting after D-Day while also showing how news from the front was experienced by the people waiting at home.

The book concludes with the celebrations that followed victory over Hitler, the continuing war against Japan, and the political changes and redrawing of national borders that helped shape the postwar world.
