Written in his "you are there" style, Franz Kurowski presents mini-biographies on seven infantry aces, all Knight's Cross recipients. Although we make fun of our titles as "summer beach reading", this book actually comes close to that. The book is a real page turner and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did putting it together. Here are the new aces:

  • Fritz Arndt. KC as an Obergefreiter and machne gunner in the headquarters Company of panzer-Pionier-Bataillon 32. OLC (No. 678) as a Feldwebel and platoon leader in the 1./Panzer-Pionier-Bataillon 32.

  • Erich Barenfanger. KC as an Oberleutnant and acting commander of the III./Infanterie-Regiment 123. OLC (No. 243) as a Hauptmann and commander of the same battalion. Swords (no. 45) as a Major and commander of the same battalion.

  • Franz Budka. KC as an SS-Untersturmfuhrer and acting commander of the 1./SS-Regiment "Besslein" in the Breslau Fortress.

  • Gerhard Hein. KC as an Unteroffizier and platoon leader in the 10./Infanterie-Regiment 209. OLC (No. 120) as a Leutnant der Reserve and acting commander of the 5./Infanterie-Regiment 209.

  • Hans Henkenschuh. KC as a Feldwebel and platoon leader in the 7./Grenadier-regiment 390.

  • George Michael. KC as a Leutnant der Reserve and platoon leader in the 6./Reiter-Regiment 22. OLC (No. 187) as an Oberleutnant der Reserve and acting commander of the II./Panzergrenadier-Regiment 26.

  • Hans Sturm. KC as a Gefreiter and messenger in the 6./Infanterie-Regiment 473.
